3 Years Old. Posted by Picasa

How she has grown! A little about Juliette:

You've decided that you want to be a doctor when you grow up.

You still need your blanky, even though sometimes you insist you are too big for it.

I've said it before: you love to run around naked, just like your mom used to do when she was your age.

You love to bake cookies: you don't eat them once they are cooked, though- all you really want to do is eat the cookie dough.

You love to read books. We read at least three stories every night. You can't really read yet, but you know so many of your books by heart that you know when I misread or skip. You do know a few letters but every J you see you think is for "juliette", M is for mommy, D is for Daddy, C is for Cosette... you know all the letters for all your family. Your first real act of disobediance was to turn on the light and read some more books after I told you that it was time for lights out. You looked guilty and surprised when you were caught, and you turned off the light after finishing that story, as instructed.

When I tuck you in at night, I have to give you a kiss on your hand (a la "The Kissing Hand") and you on mine; then I have to say "Good night sunshine. Sleep tight. Sweet dreams. Don't let the bed bugs bite. I'll see you in the morning. I love you." To which you respond "I love you, mu-mu".

You like to come up with pet names for everyone. I am mu-mu. Dad is doo doo. Cosette is Cozy.

You have told me on several occasions that I am your best friend.

You still won't eat vegetables. You still won't poop on the potty. You still scream when I try to wash your hair.

You keep asking for a cat.

You love Dora the Explorer, her cousin Diego, Caillou, and Dragon Tales. You have mostly outgrown Barney and Elmo- although you still sleep with your Elmo doll and dress your Hokey Pokey Elmo in yours and Cosette's clothes.

On Saturday, April 26th 2003 when I went into labor with you, it was raining outside. Two days later we emerged from the hospital and the sun was shining. Ever since then I have called you my little sunshine. You think the song, "You are my sunshine" is your special song, and in a way it is because the version I sing you is slightly modified. But it is true- ever since you were born our days have been filled with joy and sunshine.

Happy Third Birthday, Sunshine!

I just got a little misty-eyed reading this. I LOVE the photos - esp.when she is 1 with her short little haircut, what a cutie.
It's kind of surreal to think about that Saturday 3 years ago..me taking a test & then treking home to hear from Mike while you & Greg became a Mommy & Daddy for the 1st time -- and it was raining in both places! I feel quite lucky that I've been able to be around literally since the day your 1st daughter arrived!

I am crying....I love this post, as much as I loved the one about Cosette. I think you should do it every year and then save each on in a special scrap book just for them!
And you would only be the kind of mom that bugs me if you chose to disregard a very explicitly stated direction. I love cupcakes on birthdays, just not when I told parents not to do it because of food allergies!

Tina,
That was so great. It makes me feel like I know Juliette that much better. It's so sad that I am so far away and i'm missing her growing up.
