It's hard to believe you are one year old today. Here's a little about Cosette Emily:
You kept me waiting; I was determined to have you on Saturday, April 16th, but you waited until I was dissapointedly getting into bed to announce your impending arrival.
Your dad and I were the last to arrive at the hospital; we thought we got a primo parking spot but then found out that we had to walk around the block and enter through the ER. Between my every closer and stronger contractions and the shady characters on the street corner, we weren't sure we were going to make it. But we did. And as soon as we got in, I asked for an epidural.
I hated our maternity nurse- Nurse Ratchet, we called her- and it was fortunate that we knew what we were doing because our OB stayed out of our way, for the most part, but the delivery room was very crowded and you had a lot of excited bystanders watching and waiting for your arrival.
Your first cries were so high pitched and squeaky, but you've since learned how to let out a good deep loud scream.
You are bigger then your sister, growing into her clothes faster then she did.
You are very easy going, as long as you get your way.
When you cry, your big eyes fill with tears, and it is hard to resist you.
You don't have a security blanket, a binky, or suck your thumb; when you need reassuring the only thing that calms you is a good big hug.
You love vegetables. Let's hope that trend continues.
You already know how to both torture your sister and get her into trouble.
It's hard to pick a photo of you- because they are all good.
I told everyone that your eyes would change colors, just wait... I finally stopped saying that only last month.
Your first word was "mom".
Everyone who sees you thinks you are adorable. We keep warning your dad that you are going to be a handful when you get older.
You dance when you hear music; you dance when your sister sings to you; you don't dance when I sing to you. (Good ear!)
You like to crawl off and play, but every once in a while you come to find me or your dad to get a quick hug and reassurance that we are still there, and then you wander away again.
You are very coordinated- crawling, climbing and walking. This sometimes gets you in trouble- like when you try to crawl down the stairs.
You love to play with water. You love to play "patty-cake", "this little piggy" and a game I call "sit down Cosette".
You are very contemplative, but you are also quick to smile- and when you do, your whole face lights up and everyone around you smiles, too. You are a gift, and you bring us such happiness.
Happy Birthday, Bright Eyes.

I LOVE this post.... it made me teary....it will be so great to look back at this when she is two, or three, or ten, or twenty and remember what she was like when she was turning one. Gorgeous post.
I agree with Lisa. I loved this post too (& had added my b-day comment before you posted this!) It's so sweet & made me teary-eyed as well. I love re-reading the baby book my Mom kept of my first year...recording the ups & the downs - and I think this blog will be such a gift to your girls when they're older & can re-read all sorts of little details.
