Carrying on a tradition: fishing with grospapa.

Juliette had a very exciting day yesterday. She went fishing with Nonna and Grospapa- an event she has been looking forward to since, well, since she can remember, probably. I couldn't blame her: I remember how much I loved going fishing with dad when I was younger. Still do, although the opportunity doesn't arise very often anymore. There was some sibling rivalry: we all remember who caught the biggest of which species of fish. My dad always tells the story of the time I was reeling in a particular feisty fish, and I almost ended up in the water instead of the fish ending up in the boat. I think I had it under control, and that was probably the most fun I ever had, but it was a little nerve wracking for dad. I understand that, now!

So, starting off a new tradition, and in preparation for her first fishing trip with Grospapa, Juliette woke up and couldn't stop talking about how much fun she was going to have, packed snacks and juice in her new RedSox lunch box (thanks, Uncle Mike, that was a big hit!) and was dressed and ready to go at the crack of dawn. A real fisherman in the making!

At almost noon I got a phone call:
"Mommy! Mommy! I caught the biggest fish!"
"Hi Juliette! You did? Did you have to use worms?"
"Yes!"
"Did you have fun?"
"Yes!"

Juliette was just so excited that she couldn't wait to show off her catch.

She made my mom cook up the porgies, and we had a great fish dinner. Well, Juliette didn't; she refused to eat the fish. She wasn't squeamish, just picky. However, it was delicious: my mom has had lots of practice cooking up the catch of the day!

Tina, every time you post photos of Juliette I have a mini freak out about how big she's getting. It's INSANE!

Looks like a very fun day. :)

It was a great day. I admit I was a little reluctant @ first, but Juliette's enthusiasm won me over.
(catching the 1st fish helped also)
Juliette is going to be a great fisherman.

Also, you are flying through books this year! I'm impressed.
We just read History of Love for my bookclub a few months ago. Did you like it?

She actually called me by accident from the boat and she was practically squealing with such joy I could barely understand her! Looks like SO much fun! :)
