I'm here and I'm cranky.

My good friend and inspiration, the person who introduced me to blogging (and, coincidentally, my husband), was visiting the other day- she happens to live in California, so although she is a dear friend these visits usually only occur during her annual trip home- and she asked "Do you still blog?"

What?  Of course!  I blog all the time.  In the cloud that is my head, that is- not the cloud that is the internet.  Until you can plug in and read my brainwaves, however, those blogposts are all lost in the fog.  That is unfortunate, because the reason I began blogging was to have a record for my girls to look back and laugh, and maybe be a little bit embarrased about.  A lot has happened in the past year and I am sad that I haven't recorded all of these events, big and small.  I will vow not to let such a lapse happen again...  really.  At some point I may try to post a brief summary of the events of 2010-2011, but for now let's just move forward, shall we?  And I will explain why I am cranky...

It all started this morning when I sat down at my computer, hit the power button and... nothing happened.  My brand new laptop that has 1 terabyte of memory and such a pretty screen and a keyboard with a regular numerical keypad on the side (no small convenience when you are working in excel).  I don't know why it won't start.  I am running a diagnostic now.  This is the second time this has happened, though, and I am worried because I have caught Juliette playing games a few times, and despite strict parental controls I suspect she is somehow responsible.  I am using the computer up in Greg's office, and he is fortuantely using his laptop down on the porch, so I can still access the internet, phew.

It was important to get on the internet this morning because tickets went on sale at 10 am for the SYTYCD 2011 tour, and I wanted to be poised and ready to hit "Find tickets" at 10:00:00.  So I sat down at 9:28, logged in to ticketmaster, and went to the event page.  Then I decided to find out if there was a presale... and lo and behold, their was! The small problem being that I needed to crack the presale code.  These things are never very complicated, usually they are something like "DANCE" or "NIGEL" (a judge) or "SYTYCD".  I tried a few options, none of which worked, then decided to do a google search.  That did work.  Guess what the code was?  "DANCE2011".  See?  Simple.  I type it in and discover... the presale ended at 10 pm last night.

Grrr.

Here is the problem.  If it is that easy to crack the presale codes, then every screaming fan of the show probably also cracked the presale codes, and there is bound to be very little seating left.  The clock ticks down and at 10:00:05 (I was a few seconds late because I couldn't interpret those security words)(damn security words) I was searching for tickets and....
there are none available.

Tickets go on sale at 10:00, and they are sold out at 10:00:05.  What is the point?  If everyone can figure out the presale, why have a presale?  Why not just call it the sale?

So, despite overcoming computer issues (OK, by walking upstairs to use a different computer) and despite cracking the presale codes (OK, by doing a simple "SYTYCD presale codes" search), I am not going to get  tickets.  That is not what makes me cranky, though.  I am cranky because I wasted 40 minutes on this, and I should have done it yesterday, when I first thought of it.  Duh.

Plus, it is raining outside.  The chipmunk that was trapped in our vents has finally died- I know because I can smell it.  I have 4 mosquito bites on my legs that itch something fierce.  Pippy ate our Harry Potter book.  And the girls have been entertaining themselves much too quietly all morning, which you might think is a good thing but really just means I am probably going to walk downstairs and find a big mess. And, finally, I am cranky because I left my coffee cup downstairs and now it is probably cold - and I don't like iced coffee.

Didn't you miss reading me complaining?
