Parallel lives.

I write a blog called Raising Mommy.

She writes a blog called Raising Mommy.

I live on the East coast.

She lives on the West coast.

I am in my thirty's.

She is in her thirty's

I have a husband who recently turned 40- um, 41!- and while I'm not going to make any judgements, he did go buy himself a fancy sports car.

She has a husband who recently turned 40, and she just hopes he doesn't have a midlife crisis and buy a fancy sports car.

I have two young kids. (girls).

She has two young kids. (boys).

I am addicted to reality television.

She is addicted to reality television.

I research melanoma. I hope to find a cure.

She lost her brother to melanoma.

I research breast cancer. I hope to find a cure.

She has breast cancer. She hopes to be cured.

I hope she doesn't mind me advertising her blog so intimately; but she wrote to me and asked if I could identify my blog as mine more clearly, which I have tried to do by re-inserting my "About Me" gadget. But it struck me that despite our similarities- and there are a few!- our lives are so different that no one who knows either of us will mistake one blog for the other.

And although my prayers and well wishes- and my career- are with her, supporting her, knowing of her has made me pause to give thanks for what I have.

Thank you, Maryann, for giving me some perspective.

What a strange coincidence.....I agree though that, at first glance, your blogs are clearly different....

Hi Tina. That truly was a beautiful piece you wrote. It is unbelievable how many similarities we have. What a coincidence you research melanoma and breast cancer. I too hope you find a cure. Couple more similarities...I have a sister named Tina : ) and Frankie and Tommy (my boys) have a Nonno and a Nonna too. They are visiting right now. Take care and I hope to keep in touch.
