Juliette was debating between dressing up as Darth Vader, but ultimately ended up enamored with the Wolverine costume- mostly because of the claws and the muscles. Cosette was going to be BatGirl- because she liked the sparkly pink costume and cape, not because she cares about batgirl- but at the last minute picked out the Halloween costume from last year. Which is good, because at the last minute last year, she decided not to wear this costume, in favor of a different princess dress. Does that mean she'll be batgirl next year?
Our house is at the end of a quiet, dark, sparsely populated street; in a town filled with quiet, sparsely populated streets. At Halloween, we have to commute to good trick-or-treating territory. Nonna lives in our town, so her house is out; last year we went to Mimi and Poppy's house, and that was fun. But this year we went to Auntie Alli's condo for trick or treating. The girls realized that they could get maximal candy with minimal effort, there. This was the first year where both girls were confident enough to enjoy the evening- running from house to house "I see another one! Let's go Mommy!" They were most impressed when Mary Poppins answered one door- and we all had a sing-a-long- "Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious!". I got in trouble because we kept passing one family where even the mom was dressed in a costume. I, lacking all halloween spirit, was wearing sweatpants. We did get spooked- twice- by the guy from Scream, and I finally made the connection between the movie and the painting.
The rain held off until after we were done, and then we ended the night at Nonna's house with hot cocoa and donuts.
I did try to minimize the candy consumption, but the girls were wide awake and very chatty for a good 45 minutes after lights out last night, so it worked out well that we got an extra hour- and for the first time, the girls slept through it! Yippe... here's to taking advangate of daylight savings, rather then waking up at 5:30 am to the girls unvarying internal clocks!

You SHOULD have gotten in trouble for only just now making the connection between the movie and the painting, Tina. Good for you for having the courage to admit it publicly.
The girls look adorable!
And by the way, I checked out your new book blog and tweeted it to my book bloggy followers. Did you know there's a whole movement of them?
LOVE their costumes! Espcially Cosette's princess dress! :)
Aliza did NOT take advantage of the extra hour and is still slightly confused with the time change- as evidenced by her waking up at 5:20 this morning!
Sounds like a good time was had by all.I was glad to see Cosette's costume on her.Cute!
Nonna
Er, um, I never made the connection between the masks from Scream and the painting either. If you had not written about it, I still wouldn't! (And Munch is one of my favorite painters!)
