Smart like her mom and wise like her dad.

Auntie Ally came over for dinner a few nights ago.  She then momnapped me and forced me to go with her to the movies.  I know, she is a cruel, cruel person.  Cosette did her best to rescue me, running after the car, grabbing the door handle as we were driving away, and then screaming "Come back!  Come back!", tears streamed down her face, as we drove away. Cosette has not yet learned that screaming at the top of her lungs is not an enticement for me to stay. Besides, if truth be told, the momnapping was staged, and I was fully complicit with my momnapper.

Auntie Ally was on a roll, though. Before Auntie Ally pulled off her horrible crime, she also started a very meaningful conversation at dinner.  She asked her nieces "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Juliette::  "I want to be an artist"

Greg: groans

Cosette: "I want to be a dance teacher."

Greg: groans slightly less loudly, because this is an improvement over her previous response, which was "I want to be a dancer."  Although teachers don't make much money, they make slightly more money then dancers, so she is at least moving up in the world.  "Juliette, how about you be an artist on the side, and get a real job.  Like a doctor!  Or lawyer!  Or scientist!"

Tina:  Very flattered that he is listing "scientist" as a real job; usually he just looks at my job as more of a 'hobby'.  Not only that, but this scientist gets paid less then a teacher, so really his logic is just off.

Juliette:  "OK." She starts to walk away, but then offers these parting words:  "I'll just file that in my list of things NOT to do."

My daughter? She is becoming a wise-ass.

Doesn't get that from me.
